Idiocy
An idiot is someone easily convinced they’re right and impossible to persuade they might be wrong
“Idiocy” used to be an insult
Now it’s a personal brand, a policy framework, a self-preservation mechanism
Trump announces "Liberation Day"
10% tariffs on everything
34% on China
20% on Europe
A full reset of global trade
All served with a smirk and an oversized print-out board
This will either tank the economy
Or it won’t. (Though all signs point to the former)
There is not really any middle ground
Only consequences
But what do they matter?
The believers will just believe harder
The doubters will just doubt louder
And most people?
They’ll be busy generating Ghibli-style images of their cats
Because that’s what really captured the conversation this week
Not the economic gamble of a century
But the magic of prompts and pixels
Or should that be the end of creativity?
Either way
It’s not that I think we’re all idiots now
But we are distracted
Drawn to what’s easy to feel about
And avoiding what’s difficult to think about
We like to talk up creativity like it’s salvation
The one true answer to the World’s problems
But lately, it’s starting to feel more like self-obsession
